A new fresh air in the aftermath of the war

The 1950s were a time of incredible encounters. In the aftermath of the war, the harsh years of conflict were followed by a fresh impetus of joie de vivre, carefreeness, and creativity where people wished to buy their own property. Jack Taylor gave his seat to his daughter, Jacqueline Montagu and to her husband George. She made her own name thank to her flawless knowledge of the trade and to her huge network in the region and managed to crack down on the local competition. John Taylor overcame the difficult period of the war and continued to grow, notably by opening an agency in Saint-Tropez.

Nicknamed the twin houses by Cannes residents, Palais Florentin and Palais Oriental share the same architectural base. Yet, while palais oriental is an ode to arab style, palais florentin encapsulates what 15th-century italy produced in terms of the most luxurious ornamental decoration.

The "Glorious Thirty", a great time to expend

While France, and precisely the French Riviera are and shall remain the historical birthplace of the John Taylor brand, the company is now, more than ever eager to forge the firm’s international identity. A new adventure with the Pastor Family and Artcurial

Finally, the beginning of the New Century was a milestone for the company. The Taylor Montagu family had this sense of Kairos, of the opportune moment. To ensure its prosperity, a huge watershed had to be done: the John Taylor brand had to be place in the hands of those who perceive the future. They had chosen the Pastor's, a family of Monegasque entrepreneurs who were able to preserve the values of the company and sublimate it by developing it further around the world.

In Paris, Nicolas Orlowski, an entrepreneur and true connaisseur of fine art, founded Artcurial in 2002 and quickly turned it into the leading French auction house in Europe, specialising in more than 25 disciplines of art, antiques, designer furniture, jewellery and vintage vehicles.Initially as a partner, Artcurial acquired John Taylor in 2017, further consolidating its position as Europe's leading agent in the sale of luxury properties and goods. Whether you are a client or a collector, capturing the history of an estate, a vintage wine or a 20th-century masterpiece keeps the passion and the legend alive.
